The Best Dog-Friendly Eateries in Melbourne’s Southeast

Who ordered the puppuccino? The best dog-friendly cafes in southeast Melbourne

Want to drink and dine – with your dog by your side?

Well, you no longer need to leave your pup tied up on the street. In an open-windowed car. Or alone at home. Nope. Those dog days are over.

Scattered across Melbourne’s southeast are some top-notch eateries, cafes and pubs. Ones that welcome (nay encourage!) your furry friend to come along.

We’ve discovered the very best. And we must tell you all about them!

Jimmi Jamz

What makes happy hour even happier? Having your pooch by your side.

Jimmi Jamz’ happy hour runs from 3-6pm – every day. With dog-cheap pots, wines and spirits on offer (we’re talking under $5), you'll be pleased as punch!

Take a seat with your furry friend in the relaxed courtyard and soak up the beachy vibes. And don’t forget to ask about their doggy menu.

Looking around, you may feel the humans are outnumbered by hounds. But what better company, right?

The Turtle Cafe

Do dogs like turtles? Good question. All we know is that they love The Turtle Cafe.

With an outdoor area, doggy treats and water bowls, it’s no wonder this vegan-friendly cafe’s regular customers have four legs and a tail. You can even take your pup to the counter with you to order.

And if your pooch is lucky, they may end up on the distinguished doggy highlight tab on The Turtle’s Instagram page. So make sure they’re looking their best for the pup-arazzi.

Origen Cafe

Attention dog owners: There’s a pup-ular new destination to trot on over to.

Origen Cafe recently opened their doors to human coffee-lovers and their canine sidekicks. Their food menu has a Latin twist – yet honours local produce. Say no more!

And don’t worry about leaving your furry friend tied up outside. When you order yourself a cup of Colombian joe, you can bring them right up to the counter with you.

And if they’re on their best behaviour, they might get their little paws on a little treat.

West Beach Bather’s Pavilion

This is the ultimate pet-friendly spot for beachgoers.

A stick’s throw from the dog-friendly section of St Kilda Beach, this beach hub is open from 10am until the sun goes down. So in the midst of summer that means you can hang around a little longer.

Whether you’re after a coffee, a casual meal or drinks with (furry) friends, you better set some time aside. You won’t want to leave this sliver of beachside luxury.

Chez Misty

The hounds of southeast Melbourne have been barking on about this creperie called Chez Misty. They say humans are welcome, too. You should check it out!

So what has their tails wagging? The doggy crepe menu.

Starting with a plain organic buckwheat flour and coconut oil base, Chez Misty’s five crepes are mixed with dog-mouth-watering ingredients. Choose from beef liver, turkey mince, peanut butter and more.

And would they like a drink with that? Why yes, a puppyccino please! Luckily, there are three varieties to get their tongue into.

But humans, you won’t miss out. The menu for two-legged creatures is just as vast and oh-so tasty.

The Palace Hotel

When a pub’s logo has a dog in a fedora, it’s safe to assume who their VIP (very important pup) guests are.

This traditional pub welcomes pooch patrons just as much as their human ones. In fact, their beer garden often hosts dog-friendly events and puppy pub crawls.

They've got your VIP covered all year round. With water bowls for hot summer days and outdoor heaters for crisp winter nights.

And if you're lucky, they’ll even be greeted by resident staffy, Billy.

The Deck

What does a pooch parent want after a morning on the beach? A big ol’ feast.

So after you and your damp friend make a strategic exit from Brighton Dog Beach, head to The Deck to treat yourself to their all-day breakfast.

And as the name suggests, there’s a deck out front – that’s dog-friendly! So your pup can well and truly dry their salt-soaked locks in the sun.
